a collection of stars

but a collection of stars
she doesn't yet know how to say goodbye
the weight of words that haven't formed
as if the world can fit within her palms
why doesn't it break your heart
to watch her fold in the wind?
like dirt underneath her fingernails and
a hallowed scream she can't even feel
you drain her soul with every kiss
and I'm watching her bleed to dust
just the birth of a star at the periphery
of no one's vision
